HISTORY of Canmec Ltd
Canmec Ltd was established in 1988 by joint owners and directors Shaun Wilkes & Reg Allen. After working together successfully for several years at another company, they decided to start their own business to improve the level of service that they could offer their customers and began trading as Canmec Ltd.
Starting up in a small base on the Pensnett Trading Estate in Kingswinford with a staff of just 4 people, Canmec Ltd rapidly outgrew the small premises and moved to a larger factory in Dawley Brook Rd in 1991 where it stayed for a further 23 years.
Following continuous improvement in turnover and increasing demand from overseas customers the decision was taken in 1994 to start a new company in the form of Canmec Global Ltd to deal with the growing export market. With growth continuing in the UK market rapidly over the next 6 years, the then UK sales manager Carl Dalloway was appointed as Managing Director of Canmec Global Ltd in 2000.
Both companies continued to grow until finally the Dawley Brook Rd site was no longer large enough for us so a more suitable home was sought.
In 2014, a major re-structuring of the Canmec companies saw Reg Allen step down as an Executive Director of Canmec Ltd and his shares purchased by the remaining shareholders Shaun Wilkes and Carl Dalloway. A further result of this action led to the official merger of Canmec Ltd and Canmec Global Ltd and from June 2014 all business would be conducted under the name of Canmec Ltd. At this time, further investment in the future of Canmec Ltd also saw the company move to much larger premises just a few miles away in Womboure, Staffordshire.
The new site which nears 20,000 ft2 in total will enable us to continue to grow and take on more staff, further improving the service we offer to our clients for years to come.
